We should have tests for:

different compilers so that model results are reproducible in other environments outside of Gadi
different sets of compiler flags (debug flags, optimisation flags, etc)

I'm not sure how much of these tests should be in benchcab or in GitHub Actions in the soon-to-exist CABLE repository. In short, I'm not sure we need to evaluate the code scientifically for different compilers and compiler flags. Scientific evaluation is the purpose of benchcab.
