Homepage search bar missing on 1.6.x sites

What happened?

When I upgrade a site from 1.5.10 to 1.6.x, or create a new site using 1.6.x, the homepage search bar is not showing, even though the switch for Homepage search is on.

Clicking "search" in menu does cause the dropdown search bar to show, but the large focused homepage search bar is not present.

Has anyone encountered a workaround to this?

As long as the option is enabled and you've set a HomePage to the site then the featured search bar should render. There's nothing in the header file stopping the search bar markup from showing up, seems like some class names might be missing tho.
Do you have a url where I can take a look? Also can you update to the latest version?

Thank you for reporting this bug, this will be resolved in the upcoming 1.8.0 release, if you'd like to test the upcoming changes prior to the official release feel free to grab the dev branch version
