194 node16 upgrade #202

Necessary changes to Gruntfile.js and package.json so code successfully transpiles in node 16 as 12 will go EOL in April. Unfortunately this means sourcemaps are lost. closes #194

Upgrading node is a breaking change so this should take viewer to 8
