The one we have doesn't work with uefi; metalsmith will complete "successfully", but a reading of the console will show that it did not actually complete successfully and the node will not be able to boot.

Is this a centos9 issue only, or do we think there are other images with this issue?

I don't think the ubuntu-22.04 image works either, although I haven't fully tested - and there's an open issue to get a more recent version (24.04) up and running (https://github.com/CCI-MOC/esi/issues/608)
