Hi Robert,

Everything you've shown in the database looks fine. What happens when to try to sign in? If you're familiar with the developer tools in your web browser, please check the response from the server when you attempt to sign in and send that to us. If you need instructions to do that let me know what browser you're using.

Hi Robert,

Is there a "network" tab or something similar in your console? This will contain each response from the server. Whatever is in the response must not be valid, but seeing what it is would help me. Likewise, knowing which request is generating the 404 would help.

Hi Robert,

Do you have mod_rewrite enabled? The "/rest/..." URL should be rewritten by Apache and I'm guessing that isn't happening resulting in the 404. Is there anything else in your Apache configuration that could be interfering with this?

Jeff

Jeffrey T. Palmer Scientific Programmer Center for Computational Research 701 Ellicott Street Buffalo, NY 14203 716 881 7567 jtpalmer@buffalo.edu buffalo.edu/ccr Robert Bartlett Baron , said over 1 year ago How would you like me to confirm that mod_rewrite is enabled?

Jeffrey T. Palmer , said over 1 year ago Ticket: https://help.xdmod.org/support/tickets/29883

Hi Robert,

Run this command on your web server:

httpd -M | grep rewrite

If there is no output then it isn't enabled. You should see something like "rewrite_module (shared)".

You can also check /etc/httpd/conf.modules.d/rewrite.load to see if the module is being loaded there.

If it appears that it is loaded you can look at your apache error_log (check the configuration of the virtual host for which file).

I have made modifications to the apache config file. Kubernetes/OpenShift will handle the SSH part of the connection at either the ingress or the route. I will add the section that you suggested (it was not present) and see if I can log in then. I'll probably know either tonight or tomorrow.

Rob. Robert Bartlett Baron , said over 1 year ago After adding the "Directory /usr/share/xdmod/html/rest" section to the configuration, I seem to be able to log in, though I question if I am fully logged as there is no indication in the interface that have done so (see the attached xdmod.jpg image).

On the plus side, there are no errors that I can find and one time I logged in, I saw my account name fly by.

And here is the httpd.conf file:

This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the

configuration directives that give the server its instructions.

See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.

In particular, see

<URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>

for a discussion of each configuration directive.

#

Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding

what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure

consult the online docs. You have been warned.

#

Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many

of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the

server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin

with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so 'log/access_log'

with ServerRoot set to '/www' will be interpreted by the

server as '/www/log/access_log', where as '/log/access_log' will be

interpreted as '/log/access_log'.

#

ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's

configuration, error, and log files are kept.

#

Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point

ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the

Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used. If you wish to share the

same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at

least PidFile.

# ServerRoot "/etc/httpd"

#

Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or

ports, instead of the default. See also the

directive.

#

Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to

prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.

#

Listen 12.34.56.78:80

Listen 8080

Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support

#

To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you

have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the

directives contained in it are actually available before they are used.

Statically compiled modules (those listed by `httpd -l') do not need

to be loaded here.

#

Example:

LoadModule foo_module modules/mod_foo.so

# Include conf.modules.d/*.conf

#

If you wish httpd to run as a different user or group, you must run

httpd as root initially and it will switch.

#

User/Group: The name (or #number) of the user/group to run httpd as.

It is usually good practice to create a dedicated user and group for

running httpd, as with most system services.

# User apache Group apache

'Main' server configuration

#

The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main'

server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a

definition. These values also provide defaults for

any containers you may define later in the file.

#

All of these directives may appear inside containers,

in which case these default settings will be overridden for the

virtual host being defined.

ServerAdmin: Your address, where problems with the server should be

e-mailed. This address appears on some server-generated pages, such

as error documents. e.g. admin@your-domain.com

# ServerAdmin root@localhost

#

ServerName gives the name and port that the server uses to identify itself.

This can often be determined automatically, but we recommend you specify

it explicitly to prevent problems during startup.

If your host doesn't have a registered DNS name, enter its IP address here.

# ServerName xdmod.apps.nerc-shift-0.rc.fas.harvard.edu:8080

#

Note that from this point forward you must specifically allow

particular features to be enabled - so if something's not working as

you might expect, make sure that you have specifically enabled it

below.

#

Hi Robert,

The image you sent does not appear to to be logged in. I sent an example to show what you would expect. You should see "Hello, " when signed in and the "Admin Dashboard" button if you're an admin. Also there is "[Developer]" if applicable, but you probably don't need to set yourself as a developer.

I'm not an expert in Kubernetes/OpenShift so I'm not sure if that could be causing the issue. Is this a reverse proxy or something similar? If that's the case then you may need to make sure all the necessary headers are being passed. Check if a cookie is being set. Look for PHPSESSID and xdmod_token. You can check the cookies by inspecting the request headers or (in chrome) click the lock icon to the left of the URL then select Cookies.

Do you need to modify httpd.conf directly instead of putting the configuration in a separate file? The ordering may matter so you could also put all the Open XDMoD configuration at the bottom it might make a difference. Jeff
