Create smoke test for Daily Data on Production

Problem statement

There needs to be some level of testing on Daily Data page in production

What you need to know

• There is a vulnerability/security concern on creating fake users, orgs, and data in Production to create a fully automated E2E test in Production
• Therefore, the plan is to only run a smoke test on Production for authenticated pages, and instead the fully automated E2E tests for authenticated pages will only occur in staging
  • Can you log in, and then run smoke tests?

Solution aligned by FE folks:

• Re-use the existing E2E tests and put a tag on them in the code that specifies those tests should be run as Smoke Tests.
• The person on Deployment would use their Prime-Admin credentials to run the Smoke Tests
• Smoke tests would NOT be run on production from a non-Prime-Admin perspective. We would only be checking from a Prime-Admin state

Acceptance criteria

• [ ] Unskip and update the existing Daily Data E2E tests
• [ ] Develop a quick E2E smoke test for Daily Data page that can be run by a Prime Admin that is already logged in during deployment
• [ ] Document the process for performing this test that can be followed by the person running deployment

DevOps determined that the original implementation would involve storing a someone's credentials in production, which is not allowed and a security risk, so we need to develop a new solution around this.

Suggestion is that we wait until next quarter.
