Create exploratory data types research playbook and documentation first draft

User story

As a D/R on ReportStream, I want to extrapolate on core themes and generalize the approach for exploring new data types via research initiatives, so current and future D/Rs will be effectively and efficiently able to follow the process to tackle these data sources in the future.

Background

Via my research initiatives on the Platform team, I have explored multiple data types, unknown processes, and ambiguous questions that ReportStream had about the ecosystems that we currently function in, and the ones we may want to play a role in the future. By synthesizing, summarizing, and standardizing my process for exploring these data sources, I can help ensure that other D/Rs won't have to undertake a bespoke process every time.

Risks/Impacts/Considerations

• Prior documentation won't be applicable for new data types / data sources

Open questions

• What should the format be? How can this information be best shared and digested by new D/Rs?
• How prescriptive should the guidance be, versus allowing new D/Rs to chart their own process?
