Language selector highlight color obscures text #213

In the top nav language selector, the highlighted/selected language is illegible because the text and highlight color are both blue (screenshots below). The current DMPTool prod behavior is to display the selected language in the top menu and only highlight when I hover over. So I'm not sure if this is the product of an accessibility fix @briri and if so what the best solution is?

not quite fixed @briri - if i hover over the selected language the text appears white against the blue bar (screenshot 1). but if i don't hover then i still see a solid blue bar that obscures the text (screenshot 2). i'm agnostic about the solution.

working a expected now with white text contrast in chrome, firefox, safari. closing.
