EZID status information is currently published on a separate Wordpress site: https://ezidstatus.wordpress.com. This setup has several disadvantages:
Requires manual updates whenever information needs to be communicated (i.e., status information is not communicated automatically in the event of an outage)
Hard to find or even know about because it is a separate site and URL
Free version of Wordpress serves up an excessive number of ads, many of which are awkward and borderline inappropriate and therefore reflect awkwardly on the service and on CDL in general
An ideal future state of affairs would:
Make status information easier to find, such as linked from the main EZID site
Be hosted at CDL
Automatically communicate status information based on service activity
Send status information to subscribers
Avoid Wordpress
Could statuspage.io be an option? (e.g., status.ezid.cdlib.org, similar to status.ror.org and status.datacite.org)
