Ownership issue: 10.5060/D2 #78

Sort out issue with 2 NCEAS DOIs registered under shoulder 10.5060/D2, the prefix in which is now owned by a third party outside of EZID. NCEAS needs to be able to update the metadata for their identifiers.

Background info that might be helpful:

(1) Earlier (2015) comments from Greg about changing ownership of a single identifier:

Using the client tool:

ezid-client.py jstarr:xxxxxxxx update doi:10.5060/D2JW8BTT _owner nist

The UI could support the same. Next to where the owner is displayed now, there could be a little link "change" that then brings up the standard search-for-EZID-user dialog that is used elsewhere in the UI.

In either case, the new owner will receive an email notification.

(2) Joan's approach to solving this problem with a client in 2018 "You own this DOI, but because I created it before you had your prefix, it is associated with CDL’s prefix and our data center. However, there’s no way to move it to OSTI/DOE. Here’s what we advise:

  1. Create a new DOI over in your new “home” with the same metadata.
  2. Let us know what the new DOI is and then…;
  3. Then we will set the old DOI to permanently point to the new DOI, redirecting any traffic in this way. We will also set it to “inactive” at DataCite so that it stops being indexed."

Resolved with assistance from DataCite. We were unable to make this change ourselves due to schema differences.
