UCSB Legacy ETDs

A request has been made to publish a series of UCSB legacy ETDs (pre-eSchol) in eScholarship. Approximately 30-40 ETDs to be published.

Tasks for 19 ETDs:

• [x] Set up transfer folder on BOX for requestors
• [x] Requestor deposits PDFs on BOX (27 total)
• [x] Review publication status of each ETD in ProQuest, eSchol and UCSB ADRL
• [x] Meet to confirm author permissions for publication and publication space
• [x] Create XML template with required fields
• [ ] Generate required XML metadata for each dissertation
• [x] Ensure local IDs are unique across the UCSB ETDs collection
• [ ] Rename each dissertation PDF according to standard naming convention
• [ ] Update PDFs that need footers and UMI page deleted, as well as signatures redacted
• [ ] Bundle XML and PDF into zip
• [ ] Upload resulting zip files to SFTP for ingest
• [ ] Monitor ingest

Tasks for remaining 8 ETDs:

• [x] Identify what metadata changes need to be made to publish in eScholarship
• [ ] Apply metadata changes to publish

Local ID format: PQETD:ucsb:<5digit_random_num> + year

e.g. for year 1998: external_id="http://dissertations.umi.com/ucsb:998421998"
