Problems to Solve

• The Merritt System needs a capability to track key events. The system has very little capability in this area.
• We need the ability to trace events such as submissions across microservices

Recommendation

• Create a solution to query across multiple log files (multiple instances of the same service and multiple microsservices)
• Exploit as much as we can from existing logs
• Refine and modify logs to improve capabilities

Technology to Utilize

• I have no particular preference for a solution stack
• I would like to build a solution based on whatever approach seems right for our overall operations
• Options
  • Splunk
  • Fluentd (Charlie Collett is using this)
  • Some AWS based solution
