Thanks for your work and thoughts, @zachj9 ! I'll make issues about some of these specific feature requests to consider for the next wave of updates to the site, and fix the typos you found!
Alas, I didn't write the reel descriptions, as they were taken verbatim from whatever was written on the film canisters decades ago. I'm guessing that by "army show" in 1941 it actually means the armed forces themed halftime show, because typically the band performs one show a year that is an armed forces tribute, with patriotic selections and the force theme song. I will update the clip description to indicate that more clearly.
Band History Site Notes Sights & Sounds
chronologically footage is arranged according to reel number ~- reel 130815-2-08, “Army game halftime show: United States, shield”, the description of the reel says it is from the Rose Bowl, but the description says Army game. There was no Husker v Army game
in 1941 asfaik~
Timeline
~- the first heading is cut off ~ [ @karindalziel is working on a fix ]
no image for “Women Join the Band” or “March of the
Cornhuskers Documentary” [this is expected, no image at the moment unfortunately]
~typo under “The Cadet Band” 1979 should be changed to 1879~
I’d specify that Big Bertha is a 5 ft-diameter bass drum under “‘Big Bertha Joins the Band”
~“So it was that a The Daily Nebraskan article on December 15th, 1940, put to rest days of wondering whether band members would be traveling to The Rose Bowl.” This sentence under “The Rose Bowl” is confusing~
