CEDStandards / CEDS-Elements

The Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) are an education data management initiative whose purpose is to streamline the understanding of data within and across P-20W institutions and sectors. CEDS includes a common vocabulary complete with standard elements names, definitions, and option sets. This repository contains all the CEDS elements, definitions, option sets and their definitions, and entities and definitions. Its purpose is to expand that vocabulary to meet the needs of every education stakeholder. The expanded vocabulary is then added to the CEDS Integration Data Store and CEDS Data Warehouse – the other two repositories located here.

Use Case Title The Job Data Exchange™ (JDX) is a set of open data tools and resources that leverage global data standards and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) to transform how employers send signals about hiring requirements for in-demand jobs—including competencies—to their education and workforce partners. The result? Better, clearer, faster signals. Using structured, linked data, the JDX improves how job descriptions and postings are communicated. This is accomplished through the development of a JDX schema (JDX JobSchema+) that extends and improves upon a widely-deployed schema in the employment context, the JobPosting Schema, in partnership with HR Open Standards. The schema was pilot tested in 2019.

Use Case Description List the proposed element name(s), definition(s), and/or option set(s). See: https://www.w3.org/community/talent-signal/wiki/Comparison_of_JDX_JobSchema%2B_with_schema.org

Use Case Background There is increasing demand to link education to the talent marketplace, i.e. student learning and development (talent) is a "product" of education that is "consumed" by workforce. Education agencies are also consumers of talent needing to fill jobs. E.g. the shortage of qualified teachers impacts education agencies to a greater extent than any other factors.

Hi,

I am fairly new to the CEDS model-management process, but I am not sure that the linked page provides enough detail about exactly what new elements, definitions, etc. are being proposed to add to CEDS. Is a more specific proposal forthcoming?

thanks!

Martin

Martin,

Here is the Jobs schema+ as it is being piloted via T3: https://www.uschamberfoundation.org/sites/default/files/U.S.%20Chamber%20Foundation_JDXJobSchema%2B_ForPublicComment.pdf

A workgroup would need to review what is already in CEDS, e.g. the JDX: JOB OVERVIEW > Hiring Organization > Identifier is equivalent to CEDS: "Organization Identifier"

Are you interested in working on this?

Jim,

I am not up for working on the details right now, but thanks.
