The Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) are an education data management initiative whose purpose is to streamline the understanding of data within and across P-20W institutions and sectors. CEDS includes a common vocabulary complete with standard elements names, definitions, and option sets. This repository contains all the CEDS elements, definitions, option sets and their definitions, and entities and definitions. Its purpose is to expand that vocabulary to meet the needs of every education stakeholder. The expanded vocabulary is then added to the CEDS Integration Data Store and CEDS Data Warehouse – the other two repositories located here.

Use Case Title Add Existing CEDS Element Student Support Service Type to Workforce Provide a concise description that defines the use case.

Use Case Description List the proposed element name(s), definition(s), and/or option set(s). Add Student Support Service Type (a current CEDS element) to the Workforce domain. Definition: Type of related or ancillary services offered or provided to a person or a group of persons within the formal educational system or by an outside agency which provides non-instructional services to support the general welfare of students. This includes physical and emotional health, the ability to select an appropriate course of study, admission to appropriate educational programs, and the ability to adjust to and remain in school through the completion of programs. In serving a student with an identified disability, related services include developmental, corrective, or supportive services required to ensure that the person benefits from special education. Use Case Background Provide information related to why these changes/additions are needed. The Workforce Workgroup proposes the addition of Student Support Service Type to identify the participant’s/ student support service type in a workforce program. Similar to Student Support Service Type used in Postsecondary -> PS Student -> Program Participation.
