The behavior has been documented with certain repconfig files and the program either crashes or core dumps. A scenario where the report scrambles the header info with @ symbols may be related and needs to be checked.

git checkout -b 20200828 ! change branch to 20200828 for a tagged release version This is the IOAPI branch that does not crash smkreport. Discussions with CMAQ devs points that this uses a larger # or variables/files, so that may be the issue.

This and other report issues seem related with the way SMOKE, IOAPI and prerequisite libraries are compiled. In these tests, the latest SMOKE with the above branch of IOAPI was compiled with ifort 17.2 (netcdf-fortran-4.4.5 , netcdf-c-4.7.0).
