Time series of probed cells in MPAS #170

Open dschwede opened 6 years ago

dschwede commented 6 years ago

There is a strange problem with the time axis where it appears to be starting the time series near the middle of the period (on the plot) and wrapping around to the starting time, but not making a connection with the starting point.

Testing with VERDI_2.0_beta_linux64_20190623.tar.gz There is no longer an option to probe the MPAS tile plot. When the Controls> Show Cell Borders and Show Wind Vectors options were implemented, the Controls> Zoom and Probe were removed.

It would be better to move the Show Wind Vectors option back to the following menu option: Plot > Add Overlay > Vectors

It would be better to move the Show Cell Borders to a different line So the Controls menu would have the following options

[ ] Zoom
[ ] Probe (note that these are toogle on or off)
------
Set Row and Column Ranges
------
[ ] Show Grid Lines or Cell Borders
[ ] Show Lat/Lon

That would keep it consistent for the menu options for the CMAQ Tile Plot.

Retested this issue with VERDI_2.1.3_linux64_20220302.tar.gz on Atmos and VERDI_2.1.3_win64_20220302.zip on a Windows PC, found inconsistency in "Plot" >> "Time Series of Probed Cell" & "Time Series Bar of Probed cell". With Linux build, "Time Series of Probed Cell" and "Time Series Bar of Probed cell" are greyed out and disabled.
issue_170_testing_20220302_from_Linux_1 With Win64 build, "Time Series of Probed Cell" and "Time Series Bar of Probed cell" are not greyed out and clickable, an error message popped-up shown as below. Verdi_testing_issue_170_from_win64_1
