Tika indexer does not provide plain text, it returns the whole XML in case of XML data. See examples at https://dev2.dariah.eu/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?title=Litef+Document+Processing+Example&spaceKey=CENDARI under 1. plugin that extracts plain text
