Idea credit to Marc Esher:

I have a suggestion: probably most of the apps will have an "install" script (.cfm) that is identical to yours, save for the names and URLs. So why not just provide a default installer that is based solely on the json config. If it requires custom config, then fine, but otherwise that would enable folk like myself to simply contribute a config file and no installer that is a near duplicate of the others.
