Have to reconnect to internet in order to receive link #67

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Sent Link to phone
2.Will not get the link from phone. Have to reset the internet connection
(for example turning internet connection off on phone or turn on airplane
mode, then turning it back off to get new internet connection)
3.Will receive the link after new internet connection is established on the
phone.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I would think once i
click "send to phone" it would be pretty much instant.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? I'm on
a t-mobile N1 running the unofficial 2.2 update

Please provide any additional information below.

I've had the same issues as others have reported, on my HTC Sensation. If I
toggle the mobile connection off and on, it immediately received the links.
Also, rebooting the phone seems to fix the problem, at least for a while.

Is it possible that a task-killer app is to blame? Maybe it's killing the gmail
or Chrome To Phone services, thus causing delays.

using c2p since it born

after switching to a smasun galaxy s II the problem come

the strange behavior is that if i turn on both mobiles on the nexus always
still work almost instantly (tried to disconnet/clean data/uninstall on both,
same results)

Hi folks, just a note to say im on the SGSII also, stock latest offial
firmware. No problems with gmail / talk but i can reproduce this one.

Send a link, nothing happens (i've waited 10 minutes or so) - this occurs if im
on wifi or 3g.

As soon as i toggle wifi on / off, the link arrives.

In a state where the link isn't received yet, gmail push notifications work
fine.

One further bit of testing - I left it for longer without reconnecting, and it
does seem to eventually deliver the URL, but after a long and seemingly random
delay. Not sure if this means its not the same issue as the OP, so thought id
let you folks know.

The delays ranged from over an hour (id forgotten about it entirely) to 10-15
minutes, but the only way to make it deliver instantly was to toggle wifi.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. The owner of this project (costin) hasn't passes
comment on this issue in over a year. It seems as though he has given up with
this project completely.

I also get this issue occasionally. I mostly use it when I'm on WiFi and
sometimes the messages stop. When the issue happens, turning off WiFi so my
phone starts using the mobile network allows the message to come through. The
messages get stuck again once I turn WiFi back on. This has happened when I've
been connected to two different networks. Only about 1 in 20 messages get stuck
though. Very occasionally, it gets stuck in both WiFi and mobile network (about
1 in 100). Can be very annoying.

FWIW: FoxToPhone works every time for me. When ChromeToPhone fails (about 50%
of the time) I drag the address bar icon to FireFox and use FoxToPhone which
works 100% of the time.

I suspect it is related to Dolphin browser.(Or when the mobile has more than 1
browser)
Originally C2P worked fine on my HTC Incredible S (PC with Firefox)
After I installed Dolphin browser, I failed to received the message like #6
until I reboot or re-connect the Internet.
This issue happened on both Fox2Phone and Chrome2Phone.
I uninstalled Dolphin 30min ago after I saw the environment of #14 and #46.
Now C2P and F2P work again.

cychen7k: I had this problem when I had only the stock browser installed, so I
doubt that the problem is related to multiple browsers.

In other news. since I upgraded to Android 4, it's been working OK, although
I've only used it a few times.

after my last comment (september), chrometophone starts to work as usual
(almost perfect), now i'm back in trouble again, same problem

last time I was coming from a phone change (so I think it was the cause), now
I've the same mobile, the same rom, the same account, so it's very weird!

i've just tryed to compile from sources (2.3...) but nothing change

i'd like to help to solve this problem, so if there's still some developer
behind this project, fell free to contact me on my email: moreeasy@gmail.com

I haven't had Chrome-to-phone work reliable for over 2 years. It takes 5+
minutes to get the link, on my *always-on* 3G connection. The only solution is
to toggle my 3G connection, each time I want to receive a link.

It's been happening for 2 years, on 2 different phones (My Touch 3G and
Sensation), and 3 different OSes (Froyo, Gingerbread, and Ice Cream Sandwich).

I have the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G Touch ( on Sprint ) ... Wifi/3G, Airplane on
and off again, sign out of the extension and back in, uninstall/reinstall
chrome to phone on the phone ... No matter what it's always unreliable, from
getting a like from 15 - 30 min to ( mostly ) not at all....

It's a BIG shame the developer isn't looking into this, it's such a great
feature, I would use it all the time.

Oh, and Gmail and Talk notifications are instant, always ... so that's not a
problem.

Using the latest version of ICS on a Galaxy Nexus here. Wait is unacceptable
and occurs all the time. Turning connection on and off for me doesn't help. If
Google would put some minimum amount of effort into this, it would be a killer
feature. As is now stands, it's ripe for someone (anyone) to implement
correctly.

Experiencing this problem with the Motorola Atrix 4G (MB860) over HSPA. Fetch
schedule and push make no difference, never receive links until toggling
airplane mode on then off.

Android Version: 2.3.6 (Untouched)
Baseband: N_01.77.37P
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 "a21146@zch45lnxdroid55 #2"

I used to have delays getting the message at the phone but in the last few
months it has been very fast. Typically in 5-30 seconds.

I have two devices, a SGS2 and a SGS4. In the S2, it works well, the links
arrive in seconds... but not in the S4, where the links never arrive. I think
that the problem is the Adaway (ads remover), because if I disable it and
restart the phone, all the links come at once.

Could you give me the host name to include in the white list of Adaway?

Regards,
