Karen: · it is hard to select a fine time period. If I want only 2010, this is very fiddly to do with the slider

· It confuses me to see both Time Period and Date. How are they different?
· The Month option under Time Period does not work the way I expect. I had thought it would allow me to find all data sets from January (across years) but it is basically the same as the year slider. The slider and graph axes don’t change when I pick month, which is confusing.
Steps: 1) have tooltips over menu items, or question marks (instead of gear icons) or add explanation to the dialog box that shows up on clicking question mark (or gear)
2) on selecting month/week/etc, change the scale such that: if switching to more granular, adjust the scale to current positions of sliders; if switching to less granular: reset to full extent of years
