Reading the Cryptographic Proof definition is a confusing and I believe the idea was put in a area to talk cryptography since this will be a key element that will touch a few other objects.
I am thinking something like this:
Cryptographic Module : The set of hardware, software, and/or firmware that implements cryptographic security functions (including cryptographic algorithms and key generation) and is contained within the cryptographic boundary.
