My ET Redux doesn't seem to find any of my files in my iMac #213

Hi all,

I have been working with ET Redux for the last 2.5 years and all seemed fine. However, recently I tried to add new aliquots to my sample and the import file window does not seem to find any file in my computer. I tried changing to "all files" types and still did not get any result, just a blank window. I tried changing folders and they all appear to have nothing in them, although they do. I am working on a iMac (MacOS Monterey) in my office. I tried on a different Mac computer and it also did not work. I tried installing the latest Java update and have three different versions of ET Redux and the problem persists in all of them. I checked the accessibility of Java for my computer (a suggestion found on a google search) and it seems to be allowed to access all my files. I do not know what else to try.

I also have a windows laptop at home and that works fine. I could open all my files. The problem appears to be only with the Mac computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I appreciate any help with this.

Best regards,

Mapu Castellanos

Can you describe exactly the steps you are taking and supply a couple example files? Thanks.

Hi Bowring, thanks a lot for your help with this.

  1. I open either ET_Redux-3.6.14, ET_Redux-3.6.90 or ET_Redux-3.7.0
  2. Open my sample file, in this case "YN.redux"
  3. Sample--> Manage sample--> I select an aliquot --> Import fraction files
  4. At that point I don't find any files in any of my folders. Picture2

Try putting your fraction files in their own folder NOT inside Documents or any other Apple-generated folder and also not connected to iCloud. If that does not work, supply a couple of the fraction files you are trying to import.

Yeah, it works when I put the data in my users folder. Thanks! I used to work before when I had my data in a folder inside the Documents folder, which was not connected to iCloud anyway. Do you know why it stopped working? This way fixes the problem though. Thanks a lot!

Apple made certain folders more secure in latest OS ... google it. Apps need permission to access. ET_Redux is not eligible. see: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/395631/allow-all-applications-to-access-desktop-documents-and-downloads-in-catalina
