Github vs gitlab - which MAJA code should I use? #85

What are the differences between MAJA code here on github and on gitlab? Which source should I use to compile? Is it safe to use "develop" branch from gitlub? (I see it has recent commits) What will be best practice to contribute - reporting bugs or committing changes here or on gitlab?

We are happy to hear that you want to contribute to Maja! The gitlab is our main development platform. Due to the past project (named StartMaja) being available here on github, we decided to keep a mirror of the gitlab here as well. You can check the status of the develop branch by verifying the CI history of each commit there - If it passes, it is generally safe to use.

We are in the process of revising the contributing.md on how to contribute to Maja, as there was already some confusion between gitlab vs. github. In general, bugs etc. should be reported directly on the gitlab as the developers are more likely to check there.

Kind regards, Peter

Guys, you should REALLY put this on the front page with a link! Otherwise, looking at the last commits people might think no development is going on at all which is a no-go for adoption. I think you can even disable the issue page here and maybe it's even possible to transfer issues.

You are right, of course ! But days are short for a small team ;)
