g01 --> Emily/Candy h01 --> Emily/Clyde

• Finalizing crossfade look:
• Colors/Lighting
• Paint simulation ideas for falling debris in g01 (smoke?) over concept art
• Falling debris in general?

Mainly to solidify this since this is driving colors IMO. O:

Fixes to h01 (since ~3/16):

• Candy's snout shortened
• Big Bad/Giant Monster debris in the back ("falling stars' or something settling into place was my idea here)

Still need to fix:

• Emily's right hand intersecting with her left when hugging Candy's neck D:
• Incorrect lighting on Emily's right forearm
• Shading in the background (appears flat from lack of contrast and took much backlighting on Emily/Candy)

Add:

• Idea that debris is trailing smoke (remains of the big/last monster)

EDIT: Also, Candy's face isn't going to look like that (or that grumpy :'D)- I think Olivia was making corrections to the anatomy there.

Olivia's critique (3/26):

• Make more blocked out images for color (per #38 ) rather than detailed paintings (this is more of a color key than a script)
• Too much ambient light bouncing off the clouds (flattens) ---> add more contrast
• Suggestion 1 (top Image): Warm light coming from bottom of the scene ---> light focuses audience on faces, creates interest
• Suggestion 2 (my original image): If the light is coming from the top of the scene due to falling, bright debris/stars, cast the background clouds more into darkness (heavier contrast, directions attention up and onto the characters); leave some blue in though to tone down backlighting- not point of interest
• Suggestion 3 (bottom image): Way higher contrast, use darker shadows to bring out lighting; black shadows (reminds me of still being in the darkness from which she came ---> inferred this)

Fixes to h01 (since ~3/16 I think?):

• Scene darkened
• Lighting established

Still need to fix:

• Emily's anatomy (that arm and her nose and lips, holy shit)
• Clyde fur direction; this isn't a huge issue yet it's going to bother me so badly lol
• Making it more like the brink/beginning of dawn (darker, more warm oranges/yellows but contained; heavier, darker shadows [use multiply more])
• Possibly bed sheet, pillow, and comforter base colors (what do they look like in the first scene- tossing and turning in the middle of the night- vs. this scene at dawn?)

Some (better?) references for h01:

• Not dawn, but good shadows generated by light from window
• Good reference for using light to focus attention
• Keep in mind light from above is adding some influence

• Nice orange/blue complimentary color reference (IMO)
• Lighting on silhouetted items (if possibly/necessary for h01)
• Better reference for what dawn sort of looks like?
• Possible idea... slight lens flare? Lol

• Besides this image looking absolutely cheesy, it has a nice overall orange/yellow monochromatic feeling to it
• Perhaps bedsheets don't have to be complimentary color (blue), can be white or gray with some kind of pattern
• Good for lighting on sheets

References for g01:

(forgot to save artist's name, sorry D: /for shame)

• Orange is more bright (brightest ---> white)
• No trailing, more like bokeh (might be not what we want actually)
• More variance in falling objects
• Dreamy feel (lots of brightness and blur ---> more dreamy feel?)

Darkening contrast in Photoshop (sans fixes mentioned in g01 post):

Fixes/Considerations:

• Needs yellow/orange to be brought out more in debris/top of sky (good for transitioning into h01)
• Make (foreground) debris brighter
• Darken cloud area more
• Background stars brighter
