GUI for data exploration #199

A gui for data exploration would be good for a number of reasons:

  1. Aid users in finding data of interest
  2. Decouples underlying database structure from mechanism for finding data. Extra logic layers can be added to exploration tool without burdening the DB with special cases
  3. Looks cool

We should look at intake and intake-esm that I think solve a similar problem with a GUI component.

I should have done some research before I started, but having looked it doesn't quite have the same functionality. Still, would have been a good place to start
