What data is captured?
The following information is collected for each submission: gender, age, symptoms, duration of symptoms in the case of red-flag symptoms (such as fever, cough and shortness of breath), temperature, user intent (that is whether they want to test for themselves, their family or just to try it out).
There is also metadata about the submission, such as entry id, session id, scenario (the final advice that was given) and at what time has the submission been created (created_at).
How is the data captured?
Each submission of data is captured by a web-based application built using Node.js and stored in a Postgres database.
Where is the data stored?
The Postgres database is located on an Azure Virtual Machine managed by Malta Information Technology Agency.
How long is the data stored for?
The data (which is all anonymous) is expected to be retained for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis and one year thereafter for research purposes.
Why is the COVID-19 Public Health Response Team doing this?
The Team is asking for these data as part of its efforts to track the spread of symptoms that may be related to COVID-19 infection, as part of its nationwide syndromic surveillance efforts. They will help the Team in its disease prevention and control activities.
