reckon this firmware will work on the screen on the cr10 smart is essentially the same isnt it just horizontal?

Yes, it is "just horizontal" but that essentially means rewriting the firmware - or using it as-is but finding a way to mount the vertically.

As far as horizontal goes, you might want to check the fork on @pienjo.
