Bug Description

Firmware does not install, nothing happens.

My Configurations

Creality CR6 SE Currently installed firmware 1.0.3.6

Steps to Reproduce

I follow the instructions for installing the firmware:

  1. Format card
  2. Copy firmware-20201025-162335.bin file onto root folder
  3. Eject
  4. Insert in CR6
  5. Cycle power

Expected behavior:

Firmware to install

Actual behavior:

Printer boots without installing firmware.

Sebazzz commented 3 years ago

Without pictures, logging or anything I can't do much.

StuartWaudby commented 3 years ago

I could provide a photo of a printer booting up if you wish, not sure it will help.

How can I provide a log?

Sebazzz commented 3 years ago

Please check and read the release notes.

I have, what am I missing?

From the release notes:

Touch screen flashing instructions

This release of the touch screen firmware comes with a new version of DGUS OS (the underlying operating system of the touch screen) to fix text rendering issues.

Flashing instructions are also available as a video - this video is for the Ender 3 V2 but the same procedure applies to the CR-6. For instructions, check the README.txt in the touch screen firmware download.

For this release download touch screen firmware community release 4 alpha.

MAC users may need to format their SD card like this: sudo newfs_msdos -F 32 -c 8 -v micro /dev/diskXXX

The issue was caused by the SD card. Larger SD card worked fine.
