when i open the .dmg file on OSX Maveriks 10.9.5 icon looks OK. i Move to Apps folder. but when i try to Run qt. fails, Not compatible with Maveriks.

All OSX Apps detect compatibility Before moving to Apps folder, the Icon looks Forbiden if its Not compatible... like Ghostbusters logo. CRDS Icon looks Ok.

for example Opera Browser. v49.0.2725.64 the latest for OSX 10.9.5 Chrome v67.0.3396.79 FireFox 65.0.1

OSX Maveriks is the lowest MacPro6,1 can run. also, the highest ProTools HD10.3.10 can Run. also, the lowest ProTools HD12.7 can Run. ViennaEnsemblePro v6.0.16068 is the latest for OSX 10.9.5 etc...

OSX SnowLeopard 10.6.8 is interesting because it has Rosetta Emulator that can Run all PowerPC G5/G4 "RISC" Apps Native in Intel CPUs x86_64. from MacRepository.com

OSX 10.5 is interesting because it has built in VNC. "Screen Sharing" OSX 10.4 is interesting because it has OS9.2 Emulator.

OS9.2 is interesting because when Apple moved from Motorola CPUS "CISC" to PowerPC "RISC", OS 7.5.5 was the latest, they did that because there was an Amiga emulator Sheepshaver that could Run Apple OS 7.5.5 Native in Amiga, faster than Apple, because the frame rate/refresh rate of the Amiga hardware screen/video was slower, but was barely noticeable for most users, Apple & Amiga were almost using the same Motorola CPU, Amiga was using a cheaper version, and run faster, Amiga price was Half of Apple. Apple decided to dump Motorola 68040 that was faster than intel 486 with same clock speed, but intel won because it could develop faster clock speeds, Apple decided to make a New & Faster CPU, with different architecture, the AIM Apple IBM Motorola joint venture.. the PowerMac / PowerPC CPUs. and re-encode all software for the New Hardware, to make it incompatible with Amiga/Motorola.

OS 7.6 were almost 100% emulated, but in every new update it baceme less & less Emulated, until OS9.2 was complete PowerPC Native, 0% Emulation.

Also there was the war of 8-Bit vs. 16-Bit vs. 32-Bit Apple changed again from OS9.2 that was a True 16-Bit Licensed Unix, to 32-Bit OSX from NeXT OS, that comes from FreeBSD, that comes from UNIX v4.

FreeBSD was a side-by-side code comparison, vs. UNIX, instead Linux is Not side-by-side comparison vs. Unix, but instead vs. FreeBSD. BSD developers rewrote all the UNIX v4 code, to avoid copyrights, and release an Open Source UNIX version.

Apple made some very insteresting moves to survive and kill the competition, for example: Silicon Graphics SGI was also another true UNIX licenced RISC type OS & HW, was $250k to $750k usd. each machine, only used in Hollywood, and scientific engeneering applications.

Apple moved to RISC architecture at a much lower price and faster speed, and also created the Quatz Extreme Video Engine in G3 era, to have a similar fluid graphics engine like Silicon Graphics SGI HW.

Asteroid 3D game "Blast" for SGI was impressive...

SGI tryed to change CPUs to Intel Itanium, change the OS, have ATX compatible boards, but went banckrupt twice & did Not survived.

Basically OSX, PlayStation4 OS & FreeBSD are brothers from same Mother, but different Father...
