Cockpit 3d overhaul #11

Open D-ECHO opened 4 years ago

D-ECHO commented 4 years ago

I'd be willing to invest some time to make the 3d cockpit a bit more "beautiful", especially trying to make the panels look less "2d" while trying to keep the vertice number low (although it seems to be more textures and different objects and not so much the vertex that brings the FPS to the cellar). Is there any work already done or in progress in this area that would interfere? Are there any objections against this?

No objections from my side. I believe just having better textures and materials (not even more of them) would go a long way - just add a bit of structure to the cockpit textures and fix the lighting model, and it should look a million times better already.

I don't know of any work being done there. The cockpit model is more or less as it was originally. The only change I know is that Henning corrected the screen positions and sizes and made them canvas-ready. So I suggest you start out using his branch.

Okay, thanks!

Does anyoen of you know what is more or less the font that is used on the panels?

After a visit to a real CRJ700 cockpit I guess our 3D model really needs some rework. Some year ago I started to collect pictures via google an youtube to get a better understanding of the geometry. I am happy to share my findings but I need to think of a good way to do this
