I think dialogue like this is definitely suited for the game as a whole and not just a single scene like this. We should do our best to ensure that thoughts like this are used in certain places to make the game more immersive. Alternatively, we could have a more body language focused way of telling the player what Aaron is thinking.
When it comes to Aaron's thoughts, I think they're best expressed through the intro. It's hard (and potentially thematically strange) to have dialogue in a single-character 1st person point and click game. However, I'm not opposed to auditory cues (gasps, grunts, etc).
Plus, I think the act of devotion that is walking into a potentially life-threatening situation to rescue a man who is probably dead also shows his love for his grandfather.
Once the Minimum Viable Program is done, we could add a bit to the in-game story. One idea I had: when Aaron first comes across Oliver's skeleton, we could add a line from Aaron something like: "Wow, now that I'm invested in his legacy, it's so surreal to see his remains already..."
