Open Bost opened 4 years ago
Hi. I've posted some visuals here: https://public.tableau.com/profile/erin.j.griffin#!/ I'm relatively new to Tableau and GitHub - I welcome any and all suggestions to improve this work!
@ErinHealeyGriffin great work , some remarks :
For your information, people who are interested can participate to these kaggle challenges:
What is worrying is that they use also this dataset...
@Bost Have you any news from JHU?
Every day people complain that values are obviously wrong.
People like Erin make efforts to understand on the basis of wrong data.
We know that the good data exist, and they are even more detailled, number of ICU, number of hospitalyzed often at a region level.
Dont understand why they are so mute and broadcast so largely data so erroneous. For example they publish 12 recovered instead of 1300 yesterday in France.
Dont know if I go on participating here ?
@Bost In one of the issues , there is this link about sthg foreseen this week end
@Bost If Portuguese is one of your 4 languages ;-), a very accurate site even with ages of people https://covid19.min-saude.pt/ponto-de-situacao-atual-em-portugal/

I am an IT Business Intelligence Analyst, and I constantly create and distribute advanced Power BI Reports to my company. Naturally, I love platforms like Power BI and Tableau.
Out of curiosity, I searched Google for any open Power BI Reports on COVID-19 that anyone has made, and I did indeed find one. I haven't looked through all of it, as it has 31 tabs and I haven't had the time.
Take a look and let me know if you find it helpful. Later today, I was thinking about creating a program to pull their CSV time-series data out of their repository on here and pushing that into a public Power BI Report I could create and distribute.
I like their dashboards from arcgis, but there aren't enough visuals. I am wanting to see more data than what is being presented.
Any feedback is welcomed!
@DMiradakis interesting at least to discover the use of Power BI
Numerous people make their own analysis , one of the best I found is here https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
But on this site , IMHO the main issue is not the visualisation, it is the long list of issues about reliability of data (it seems that worldodometers is more reliable ,giving a complete list of their modifications and their sources for each line )
@JiPiBi Wow, talk about some extensive visualizations! And I love the newsfeed they have on the main page! Thanks for sharing!
@Bost worldodometers is very reactive and accurate Some minuts after the new updates in France , the site is updated JHU is no more my reference They should be in contact with worldodometers to share their data and process , unless .....
@JiPiBi we're not flawless. Go to their Coronavirus page, click on the Report coronavirus cases and you get:
$ wget --no-verbose https://www.worldometers.info/report_us/
https://www.worldometers.info/report_us/:
2020-03-20 20:28:48 ERROR 404: Not Found.
Edit: Anyway thanks for the information. Very important to know it. Edit2: I just reported them the broken link
I made a dashboard while training students.
During this also wrote if there are any data errors.You can go and download the data issues that do not reconcile from here https://www.aydan.info/
@Bost
see #1150 , no reaction from JHU ??
@Bost One more new disappointment : worldometers gives values for France that in fact are already an agregation of France + territories (the same error that I pointed out this morning here ) and they count also twice these territories : I let them a message , Wait and See
The numbers are growing exponentially, so we need to scale our effort exponentially, too.
This repo has several thousands of contributors and ~12.6K stars gazers at moment. That's a lot.
Please consider creating sub-teams of our large 12.6K+ team contributing at first to your own repositories - gathering, cleaning and verifying the data on (presumably national) sub-level. This way your information can be delivered to this main repo in larger pieces, thus hopefully decreasing the workload the maintainers here must sustain at the moment.
Prefer English as your language of communication, so our sub-teams can speak to and learn from each other.
Thank you.
