My guess is that "New York City" is all 5 counties. A pain if you're trying to deal with counties consistently
With all issues like this, assume the problem is in the underlying data. If you can find better data report it. I'd guess the data might be coming from here: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/county-county-breakdown-positive-cases
@thoughtafter thank you, I bet that's the source of the New York data. So New York City has become the long pole in the tent because all 14,000 confirmed cases are lumped together instead of breaking it down by the city's counties.
How is it that the four New York counties (Bronx, Kings, Queens, and Richmond) have no reported cases of COV-19 according to the 3/23/2020 daily report? In today's New York Times, it is big news that a jail inmate in Kings county (also known as Brooklyn) has tested positive, as well as over 50 police officers.
