Dashboard Update

Hello everyone,

We are happy and excited to announce that on May 13, 2021 we will be launching the third version of the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Dashboard. This update will see substantial changes to the visualizations hosted as well as the launch of our new COVID-19 vaccination data products. The vaccination data will be hosted on the GitHub repository of the Johns Hopkins University Centers for Civic Impact at the following link: https://github.com/govex/COVID-19

You will see some marked changes in the visualizations of the dashboard:

• Vaccination data to be integrated in multiple ways. Selecting a country will display the total cases, deaths, and vaccines administered for that location. A vaccine map is available as well as global- and country-specific vaccine time series.
• Admin level 0, 1, and 2 cases and deaths are collapsed into a single widget on the left side of the dashboard. Selecting these locations will still center the map on the selected location.
• Daily cases and daily deaths are broken out as individual time series graphics.
• US test results are located as a map tab and no longer included as a separate widget.
• Global recovered and active case estimates are removed. These data products will be maintained in the GitHub repository.

The URL for the current version dashboard will automatically redirect to the new version, so there will be no need to change embedded links. Additionally, the existing data products on this GitHub repository will continue to be updated on their current schedule so there will be no need to alter data pipelines dependent on this repository.

Hi, love the great work your team has been doing. I noticed all nations with >6 million cases are not appearing on the left hand widget. Was there a purpose behind this, and that feature please be restored? The totality of data is excellent for when I have to brief people.

It looks like any country that reports cases by state/region is not appearing in the Admin0 list. Also, Australia is not appearing in any of the lists.

@ryanbinns I wonder if the datasets are acknowledged as flawed at such a scale and are now broken into smaller regions for accuracy reasons.

@beefwittedbuttocks The datasets are certainly at region level where available, but I wouldn't have thought that the countries should be removed from the Admin0 list. They've been there with region data for over a year, but have suddenly disappeared. I suspect it's a bug. I'm far more interested in country data than region data anyway.

The new version 5/13/21 will NOT LOAD in the browser BRAVE, but will in Chrome. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

This dashboard is a great resource, and until the recent update even the desktop version has been working fine in Chrome on iPad. Now it seems neither the desktop nor the mobile version will load. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

It works for me on Chrome desktop. However it doesn't load on Brave.
