“Disallow adjoining classes” doesn’t seem to provide any strong reasons against combining classes; the only such reason, lack of support, has practically speaking long fallen away as pretty much no one uses IE <6 anymore.
Furthermore, combining classes is a legitimate way of working with CSS.
From what I can tell, dropping this rule would be an improvement to CSSLint.
