关于 WinEdt 的重分发问题

现在已经拿到作者的授权可以重分发和修改默认设置，原始邮件回复如下。

Granted, you can do so... Modifying the default settings to connect

with CTeX without user intervention is also admissible in this

case.

 

Unfortunately we do not get many license registration from China.

Perhaps this could be improved if we offer CTeX users in China a

discount (let's say 50%). Let me know if you are interested and

I'll see if an arrangement like this is feasible on our part...

(Hebrew, Arabic, Asian, etc...).

那么 CTeX 的合法性就没什么问题了。 不过作者倒是提到了个不错的事情，50%折扣，这个要不要考虑一下？可以借此在中国推广一下。 我也刚好认识一家比较有名的中国正版软件代理，或许可以找他来合作。

大意就是为了提高安装体验CTeX需要拆WinEdt的包捆绑在自己的安装程序中，但是EULA不允许我就问他要一个特别许可。我没提到加菜单改设置的事情，不过看起来他已经想到了。 中文化吼啊！我会和他联系的，邮件顺便抄送你。不过目前的 WinEdt 有多国语言配置吗，我似乎没注意到。

你可以跟他说，中国用户少，一定程度上是因为没有汉化。我们可以帮他们汉化，作为报酬，要他们每在中国卖出一份拷贝，就给 CTeX 套装项目捐赠 2 块钱。

互惠互利，大家都不吃亏。我想是个不错的主意。

你看怎么样？

@Liam0205 我刚给他回了，刚好也提到了这个问题。正在等他回复了，如果他认为翻译是可行的那么我就往他们的邮件列表正式发邮件商量然后把你拉进来。 然后我这边也顺便和淘宝的正版软件代理初步沟通下。

@Liam0205 一件悲伤的事情是，看来我要重新做一下 WinEdt 部分了，毕竟10没几天就发布了。。 不过应该没以前那么麻烦了，有点经验了

Let's see how much interest there is and then I will consider

making arrangements like this. WinEdt is not a big enterprise. We

have an arrangement like this with a software firm in Russia (20%

discount) but it results in less than USD 500 per year of

transactions which can hardly be called big business for anyone.

TUG and Dante special license agreements generate even less. Tell

this to the software agent before he contacts us with any details:

WinEdt will not be a game changer for them:-)

 

It is always problematic to include non-free software with a non

commercial package like CTeX. Some users may not be pleased at all

as they may prefer open source freeware alternatives. Then+ years

ago C. Schenk recommended WinEdt to MiKTeX users but there were a

few angry reactions (from users that abhor the very existence of

non-free software) and he no longer mentions it. Thus you may not

want to promote WinEdt "too much" to avoid a backlash like this. No

publicity is better than negative publicity! Keep this in mind (we

don't want to push WinEdt upon those that don't want it:-)

我们是否可以搭个小服务器，用于接收 POST。然后在 WinEdt 第 30 次被打开时，询问「WinEdt 是一个收费软件，作者花了很多心思在上面。你可以选择继续使用，但是如果可以，你愿意花多少钱，支持作者的工作」。

然后反馈给 Alex。
