Just opening this until this version is either completed or abandoned. As a reminder to myself.

SPCH-39004 is stated to be "not working". Is someone aware of the reason? I would like to understand if it's the ISO which is not working (so it has to be fixed or a new one has to be created) or if this model is not affected by the vulnerability (I doubt it).

Moreover I read the blog post from @CTurt and I wonder if we can contribute somehow (well I don't fully understand everything, but the process seems doable, it's a matter of understanding where to get the memory location to go to). On my side I have 2 PS2 SPCH -39004 so I would be happy to do my research/testing but I would like to know if it will not be time wasted.

As you said. It says "not working", yes, but if you look better it said "not working: 39004 - to do". Wich I understand to be "the simple 2.1 multi-version doesn't work on 39004, we are working on a working version". But to test they need 39004 PS2s in order to test the DVD player, and I thinks that is the problem, not enough 39004s.

Now, if we who have 39004s were able to help in some way, I'd be glad to.

Well I have 2 PS2 39004. But as far as I have understood the exploit may be developed against the PS2 emulator so it shouldn't be a problem. That's why I thought there could be another reason why the exploit is not working on the 39004 models.

hi, also have a SCPH-39004, Browser 1.20, CD Player 1.20, Playstation Driver 1.10, DVD Player 2.13E I've burnt the 2.10/2.12 image on a DVD-RW (4.7GB). The result is a brief black screen and then some greyish horizontal dots/lines on the top of the screen. Note that I connected the PS2 with a RetroTink 2x Pro Multiformat using the composite cinch plug (not component). The Retrotink on my Samsung LCD may show much more sideborder than a TV. Here's a brief video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12rGXxToKdUbD2FPruRyvUqdOB9vzetgV/view?usp=sharing Let me know, if there's anything I can contribute to test, hack, etc... to get this console supported as well. thx pottendo

Edit: Did try a commercial DVD and this works as expected - the white horizontal lines are visible there as well.

Hi I have the same model number and 2.13e and what ever I try doesn't work so they didn't fix it and it's been 3 years 🥲

It is kinda sad that 4 years have passed and there were no updates whatsoever.
