Hi, I did experience this issue. For me, it was because of the burning process. I tried multiple times with different tools and with different settings.
Eventually it did work out.
Thanks for that, I will give it another crack tomorrow

Did it work? Did you solved it? Please I have the same problem. If you've solved it please tell me how you fixed it please! mine is: PlayStation 2 slim, the model number: SCPH-70006, DVD version: 3.10G. I have tried turning diagnosis option in PlayStation startup menu (Browser, System Configuration) by pressing triangle button, I tried so many settings like burn speed in the PS2 and in the burner. I tried cleaning the laser. This problem faced me since 3 or 4 years ago.
What speed are your DVD-R discs ? 16x ? Try burning at 8x . I tried that with a game and it actually worked bettter on the console than 3x or 4x . I have the same model .

In my opinion the best recommended speed is lowest as possible (from 1x). I did with 3x and it works.
Try burning again at 8x and you'll see that works too . I was kinda surprised that GTA San Andreas works better at 8x than 3x . Much better.

I have a PS2 Slim Console SCPH-70002 Browser 1.40 CD Player 2.00 Playstation Driver 1.11 DVD Player 3.10A
I have burnt 8 DVD's using 1x write speed with the "All PS2 Slims - English language" ISO but all I get is
"Please insert a PLAYSTATION or PLAYSTATION 2 format disc"
I have burnt the disks with imgburn and CDBurnerXP. I have played DVD's normally on it with no problems.
Any ideas?
