my layers won't show on startup of saved proj #100

On friday I saved the project with my 2 added layers from local shapefiles (Santa Fe basin polygon, and HUC polygons that are both on my c: drive).

Monday, I opened the project, and those 2 layer will not show. They are listed in layers, but when I select, do not display in the map. I select, deselect, no change in the map.

The base map layers, and data layers from previous search that I had saved in the project, all show up.
