There's 2 problems the calendar is solving, one is room reservations for private events like committee meetings and chalice circle meetings, the other is announcing publicly available events that are taking place at the fellowship, where everyone is welcome.
It would be nice to have a big difference in the emphasis between these, as they appear on the calendar.
Different but related, toward making the calendar more useful for visitors to the site: we probably need a checklist for the content of events on the calendar. Most of them just have a title and a "contact x at office@cvuuf for more info".
Community forums usually put up some significant content and can serve as a good example, but even committee meetings should probably link to a page about the committee that includes their charter, and most other events should have some copy that explains what the event is about to someone who has never heard of the event or our church, ideally with at least one image, and a link to another page if applicable.
