What region settings do you use? That's a weird bug, since different systems are being effected!
Btw, have you installed a Windows Media Player?
Well now it's interesting that you bring up region, because I was actually just coming back to this issue to post that I have a machine where the sounds work, and coincidentally (or maybe not?) on that system, I happened to install a copy of Windows set to English UK region. On all the rest of my systems, the region is set to English US.
I typically do install a media player; the one that I use is "mpv", which you can find at mpv.io. I typically uninstall the Windows default media player as I do not use it. The machine where the sounds are working still has the Windows default media player installed, though, as it is a very fresh Windows install. I'll uninstall it later tonight (I'm at a function right now, just bored enough to play with my phone lol) and report back to see if that breaks the sounds. I don't know why it would, but we'll see what happens.

I have a half-dozen different machines here with versions of CapFrameX ranging from 1.7.2 beta all the way up to the latest 1.7.4 beta. Notification sounds do not work on a single one of them.
Steps to reproduce: 1) Download the latest CapFrameX, either 1.7.2 stable or 1.7.4 beta. 2) Open the app and enable hotkey audio notifications, either Voice or Simple. 3) Begin a capture. 4) Note that audio does not play. 5) End a capture. 6) Note that audio does not play.
Environment: Windows 10 22H2, Windows 11 23H2, Windows 11 24H2 (all x64)
Troubleshooting steps: Obviously, I've checked to make sure audio works, and I've tried changing default audio devices. I've checked that the app is not muted in the Windows volume mixer, and I've also verified that the MP3 files under \CapFrameX\Sounds\ are present and not corrupted. They play and sound fine in foobar2000. I've also done clean reinstalls of CapFrameX on multiple machines. Not sure what else to try at this point.
