Testing App before Handover: Getting To Know Me (previously known as Welcome to CAMHS) Jasmin Patel & service user feedback Testing on iPad & Queries 10-11th May 2017

First feedback: ‘it's really really amazing’

Technical issues... ‘app is dead’. Not responsive and not loading fast. ‘Annoying as page is jumbled and previous tab overlaps the likes box so irritates user as it takes them back to previous page’.

  1. Page 1: doesn't display all items immediately. Then appears jumbled on iPad e.g. Lion. Next button appears in middle of page rather than bottom.

  2. Page 2: Bear could be slightly more distinguishable/ different in colour e.g. Greyish?

  3. Page: Cartoon.. 'choose avatar' option not needed. Instead, once the user clicks the image could the tick button appear along with 'next' tab and the user can then click the ‘next’ to move on to next page.

  4. Page 3: name, age. Add boy girl

  5. Page 4: feelings/emotions page. Again doesn't fit on one page of the iPad screen size.

  6. Page 4: child is restricted to choosing only one emotion... Perhaps they could choose a few?

  7. Page 5: balloons cover the writing.. Could they be pushed down a bit. Really nice images in background.

  8. Page 5: balloons language -change to descriptions, rather than emotions/ feelings.... E.g. Kind, boring, fun, Wonder about just positive qualities (Not sure about strange or negative feelings... (aim of aleivating their negative feelings versus getting them to open up and getting to know them.. ask service users/ children what they think about just including positive words, compared to a mix). Add Unwell, Tired to describe yourself. ….Friendly/ playful, sharing, fast, smart?? remove happy, etc emotions as these are covered in the emotions/feelings page

  9. Page 6: what are you interested in? Change wording to ‘What do you like doing?’ Add bicycle Perhaps include an 'other' section where they can type what may not be on on the page. Really nice pictures....

  10. Page 7: how well have you been sleeping? Scale to have numbers (or no need as emoji changes face--- really good!! and scale with no’s can be shown in final print out page). – ask service users what they think during testing.

  11. Page 8: friendship. all really nice pages. Could the boxes be moved up slightly as they do not fit fully on the page.

  12. Page 9: home. Boxes don't fit on page. Need to adjust to fit page. House looks a bit like a school or office and has palm trees. could there perhaps be bushes/ hedges and flowers to make more realistic as majority of people don’t live in mansions. Also make image slightly bigger.

  13. Page 10: fruit & veg eaten: good 12: page 11: school. When typing the auto spelling is on.. Is this a good or not so good – to ask children.

  14. Page 12: finished page

  15. Final page: could there be info to say ‘Please hand back iPad to staff’/ ask service users and staff what they think about this.

  16. A point to note is that the animal character/avatar that has been chosen at start is only seen then and once at the end, he doesn’t come on every page and just disappears. It would be great if the animal came up again, e.g. monkey climbing on tree on one page and guiding/supporting the user/child in the journey of the App, and cheering the child/user as they complete the questions. On the final page he could, for example, appear to say 'come on'.

  17. The final page has an ‘info’ icon, may not be clear to the user, so to perhaps include 'Click here for info'.

  18. The page which is emailed to the clinician only shows the ‘lion’ character and not the animal chosen by the child/user

  19. The page emailed gives scores such as for ‘Friends (4/5)’ – could there be a word attached to this explaining what it means e.g. ‘not good, okay, good, very good, excellent’.
