Sorry guys, I was following Google. How would you suggest we support traditional Chinese vs. simplified?

purplegrape commented 5 years ago

this misapprehension is due to the translation file's naming rule in fact,chinese is widely used in the following locations which use different character code 1 China mainland use zh_CN 2 China TaiWan use zh_TW 3 China HongKong use zh_HK 4 Singapore use zh_SG

netniV commented 5 years ago

So, and pardon my ignorance, does this mean that we have this correct?

purplegrape commented 5 years ago

@whsir , any idea about the file's naming rule ?

skyjou commented 5 years ago

The relation between Taiwan and China is a complicated political issue. May we leave it to the statesman? The name in Cacti language field is just a name. As mentioned by @purplegrape , Chinese has more than one character code. I don't think the language's naming in Cacit is an issue. But if we using Chinese(Traditional) and Chinese(Simplified) as the name, it should be fine too.

We are looking to move to the two to five character abbreviations as we move to make community translations more accessible. Keep you all posted on that.

There is only one China in the world, and both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China. China's sovereignty and territorial integrity brook no division.

@purplegrape

Chinese(简体) Chinese(繁体)

The same could be said that there is one world, and we are all a part of it, though there are a few downsides, and one of them is that we speak many languages and we use symbols to differentiate each. We call those symbols languages.

Borders form political boundaries as so many in the world seek to take the territories and steal the thoughts and dreams of others by enforcing their will on others. This is why we need borders, at least until the time that we all just either get along, or move slowly over time to our eternal resting places. Or yet again, have it all end with a big rock falling from the sky and sending us all back to the stone age.

To just end the conversation from my side, there will never be true peace, but life is a struggle and each of us are tested by how we deal with the struggle. The Cacti community is where we meet to just monitor networks and have fun while doing it. So, we are good.
