Localization/translation #44

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I would like to translate Sodium to my language.

Describe the solution you'd like Please add the language phrases to en_US.lang, it is currently empty. Also would be nice if existing phrases could be taken from Minecraft resources directly (so - everything but explanations perhaps?).

Describe alternatives you've considered Crowdin, Transifex, Weblate...

Additional context N/A

--- [jellysquid3:](https://github.com/jellysquid3/sodium-fabric/issues/44#issuecomment-660428424) > Sodium now has support for localization and will make use of existing translations in Minecraft where possible. If you would like to contribute translations, please see the new translation center on [OneSky](https://jellysquid.oneskyapp.com/). Edit 2: the OneSky link is now broken and any language PRs have not yet been accepted ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit 3: There is now a sustainable unofficial translation project, managed by myself and FlashyReese (Sodium Extra dev). If there is any interest in upstreaming it, we'll gladly transfer the project to Sodium developers.

This was discussed extensively before in the discord. The main issue preventing language support is https://github.com/jellysquid3/sodium-fabric/issues/5.

And as an annoyance, Minecraft won't know how to load our language entries without the Fabric API. So for 0.1 they'll probably remain hardcoded.

If someone wants to take the time to PR translatable strings in the code, or add Fabric rendering API support, that would speed up this issue immensely.

Well, @Leo40Git just offered to do it 😁

I'm not sure if I should say it here. But the ZH-CN translation can be done better. Some approved translations are colloquial, impossible to understand, or even has meme in it (I'm not sure). Most translation is done by the user 'valetzx', and while sometimes his/hers translation is obviously not as good as others, he/she still got most votes. Overall, the translation is usable, it just can be done better. At least I could do a better job : )

I now have three suggestions regarding the translation platform:

SkyeSlav commented 4 years ago

Could you add Indonesian to it?

FaCsaba commented 4 years ago

Hi could you also add hungarian to that list? The in-game name is Magyar (Magyarország)

SmajloSlovakian commented 3 years ago

Hi, can you add Slovak translation to it? (sk_SK, Slovenčina)

ccuser44 commented 3 years ago

Currently a lot of languages are missing from the translations. there are only a few on the list. you should add all languages minecraft supports to the list. Edit: Ahh I didn't know how to add it myself.
