ISSUES : COMMON SOLUTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS

Many common issues have simple solutions. Issue such as the pack crashing at start up, is lagging, etc all can stem from a few simple things :

• Make sure you are updated to the absolute latest version of Java.
• Ensure the memory allocated is between 3.5 and 4.5 gigs. Any higher can cause lag.
  • FTB Launcher :
  • The Options tab of the Launcher has "RAM Maximum (MB)" slider.
  • Curse Launcher :
  • In the Curse Launcher options, select the Minecraft tab.
  • Scroll down to Launcher Settings to find the Memory Allocation slider.
• Alternate server utilities like Thermos can have issues. Try using the default server download instead.
• Make sure you are not in an offline-server (server.settings, online-mode needs to be set to true)
• Remove mods like Optifine. There are multiple mods in the pack that do not work correctly when Optifine is installed.
• With Minecraft loaded, select Options > Snooper Settings and disable the Snooper.

LOCATING YOUR INSTALL FOLDER

It is important to know how to find your install folder. This folder will contain sub-folders for crash reports, configs, saves, and more.

FOR FTB LAUNCHER USERS

1. Open the FTB Launcher.
2. Select The Ferret Business under Third Party Modpacks
3. Above the list of modpacks, click Edit Mod Pack.
4. In the new window, hit Open Folder
5. This will open a file explorer window to the /mods/ directory for the modpack.
6. Go up one directory, so you are in /minecraft/

FOR CURSE VOICE USERS

1. Open the Curse Launcher
2. Select the Minecraft tab on the left.
3. Select the copy of The Ferret Business you are currently using
4. Above the information for the modpack, to the right, should be a button marked [. . .], click it.
5. In the dropdown, select Open Folder. This will put you in /minecraft/

READING YOUR CRASHLOG

The /crash-reports/ folder contains txt files of all your crashes, with the time and date as part of the filename. Usually, the bottom most crash report in the list will be your latest crash.

The GREEN section is the important part for me to diagnose an issue. The RED section is something you can use to search either this github or Google for a solution.

INSTANTLY CRASHING ON LAUNCH

This is something that occurs when the download fails partway with the FTB Launcher.

In the FTB Launcher options, click the "Force Update?" button, then launch the pack. It will redownload the pack, but keep your saves and configs.

If this does not fix it, make sure you are using the latest version of Java, and then try the Curse Launcher version.

Instead of removing optifine, download an older version like D6. E3 just conflicts with Bibliocraft is all.
