Looks like, if I'm willing to sit here and do it, I can make 2FMC crafting crates for free. The patterns aren't consumed. Bug

Ah I see what is causing this issue. Basically the Tinker patterns don't get consumed in any recipe, even added ones.

Easy to fix for next release.
