Mobile App: Pictures, and Genius ID's #12

When using the mobile app it would be much more efficient if a user could click up to four pictures associated with an observation. Currently a user needs to select and add one image, then select the next image, then the next, and so on, before finally uploading the observation.

One other nuance with the mobile app is that a user cannot select a Genus only on an observation. Identifications to Genera are not available in the app, as they are in the desktop. Frequently, when in the field or on my phone I am only confident at the genus, then will edit to species later. I can force in a typed name, which is what I am doing, but that is a bit tedious.

Hi @RonVanderhoff, thanks for posting this. We'll look into the possibility of adding genus-only options. The issue with photos is more fundamental to the way we design forms (each photo is completely distinct from any other, and while in many cases the group that designs the form may not distinguish them, others may). So supporting that use case would require a pretty fundamental shift in the way we do things.

Thanks Ed. Any thoughts on adding a genus level identification, sort of as a mirror to the desktop version?

You can choose a genus+ species -- eg "Vaccinium ovatum" -- and then remove the species so that only the genus is left -- "Vaccinium".
