Opening Port 4001 on router kills my internet #6

Hello,

Whenever I open the IPFS port on my router, my internet goes completely down in about 5-20 minutes. It's pretty consistent, I am sure something is getting overloaded and I know that there were NAT table issues with IPFS and routers in the past that would cause them to crash (from googling). Wondering if you know of a solution to help with this so that I can be connected to the IPFS network and still be able to use my network?

If you need to see logs or other data, please let me know how to grab it and I will get them for you.

Appreciate it!!

Sorry you're having problems opening ports.

I haven't seen this issue, so can only refer to the IPFS docs. https://docs.ipfs.tech/how-to/nat-configuration/

They talk about issues with UPnP & DCUtR. And that manual setup might be best.

It's a little more difficult on Umbrel without access to IPFS (by default). You can try to open access to the IPFS UI here (https://github.com/Cameron-IPFSPodcasting/podcastnode-Umbrel/issues/3#issuecomment-1170448585) to gain access for editing your config.

They suggest setting Swarm.RelayClient.Enabled to False and try a manual config. Untitled

https://docs.ipfs.tech/how-to/nat-configuration/#configuration-options says you have to set your external IP address in the config.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it's something to try.

Can you share your info about IPFS locking up routers? Maybe someone else has figured out a fix(?).
