The algorithm freezes at large(r) k #1

Hello! I'm really excited about your algorithm and am trying it out in the context of gene regulatory networks. I noticed that, with my networks as least, the program just freezes once k reaches a certain number - sometimes as low as 2.2, in other cases, just above 50. Is this something you've experienced before? I'm happy to share my dataset over so you could have a closer look.
